4) The offensive line is not very good
This was very evident right from the get-go.
Eric Fisher sat out of the game, which stirred some controversy on Twitter. According to Chiefs beat writer Terez Paylor of The Kansas City Star, it was Reid’s decision to sit Fisher, not Fisher wanting to ‘opt-out’ of the game.
Donald Stephenson got the start at left tackle, and was much improved. Stephenson saw almost no playing time last year, after returning from a suspension and being in the dog house for the majority of the season. Reid hasn’t said whether or not Fisher will start on Thursday, and his status is questionable.
Meanwhile, former Missouri Tiger Mitch Morse seemed to be fitting in well at center. He was welcomed to the NFL by having to match up against Vince Wilfork, but did a decent job.
While there were some individuals who performed well, overall the line was sub-par. Jamaal Charles was unable to get anything going, and only rushed for 57 yards. They’ll need to step it up against a heavy hitting Denver defense on Thursday.
