The Kansas City Chiefs spoiled the Houston Texans’ home opener with a convincing 27-20 Week One victory at NRG Stadium.
The KC Chiefs marched into the Texans’ living room, wearing their home reds, and helped themselves right to the food and drink in yesterday’s season opener.
After the Chiefs opening drive stalled, punter Dustin Colquitt pinned the Texans at their own seven yard line. Next thing rookie cornerback Marcus Peters knew, he was staring at his first career interception on his first professional snap. Thanks, Justin Houston.
Two plays later, quarterback Alex Smith threw a ten-yard dart to tight end Travis Kelce for the Chiefs’ first touchdown of the season. 7-0 Chiefs less than five minutes into the game.
It was an impressive start for the road team, and one that seemed to knock the Texans into a daze. Great party, Texans, thanks for hosting.
The Chiefs haven’t lost a game of any kind since Dec. 21 of last year.
Here’s a look at the Chiefs’ performance in all three phases of the game.
