A-. . Defense. Kansas State Wildcats. DEFENSE

Kansas State’s defense looked great on Saturday. Sure you could make a case that it was against a school that just entered FBS play a few years ago, but still. There was a lot to like about this Wildcats squad on Saturday on the road against a team that had a lot to prove.

  • K-State’s defense got off to a rough start when UTSA had a ten play drive that lasted over four minutes right off the bat. The drive eventually led to a field goal.

Luckily, the Wildcats got it together after that and were able to shut down Blake Bogenschutz and the Roadrunner offense. They even denied UTSA when they went for it on fourth down in the red zone late in the first half.

Had the Roadrunners converted the fourth down and gotten the touchdown, the momentum most certainly would have been on their side to end the half, and it might have been difficult for Hubener to pick his offense back up.

So yeah, that defensive stop was huge.

The only reason I gave the K-State defense an A- rather than an A was because of their very early struggles. Still though… An A- is nothing to spit on.
