N/A. Kansas State Wildcats. PLAY CALLING. C.

Let me just say that for the most part, the play calling was fine. Obviously when the team wins by four touchdowns, there’s not too much you can nitpick about, but there was an area that annoyed me.

The play calling at the end of the second half confused me. Kansas State was only ahead by four points at that moment and rather than run the ball, Dana Dimel and Del Miller opted to have Hubener throw the ball multiple times.

This irritated me because K-State should have been trying to kill as much of the clock as possible to limit Texas San Antonio’s time when they got the ball back. Of course, it didn’t end up mattering much as UTSA didn’t do anything when they got the ball back, but it could have been a big mistake on K-State’s part.

Again, it’s tough to really complain when the Wildcats put up 30 points with their offense, but hopefully we don’t see a similar situation in future games, especially in closer games.
