Sit ‘Em #2

Brandon Marshall. 2. player. 30. Week 1 Projection: Standard: 4/PPR: 6. WR. New York Jets

Once upon a time Brandon Marshall was one of the best receivers in the NFL and was also one of the best fantasy football receiver options as well.

I am here to tell you that that is all in the past now.

Marshall was traded to the New York Jets this offseason from the Bears, making his situation even worse as a fantasy receiver.

With Fitzpatrick at QB for the Jets, I don’t like Marshall’s chances at having a good fantasy day. Leave him on your bench if you can afford to do so in Week 1.

The Jets currently have Ryan Fitzpatrick at quarterback while starter Geno Smith recovers from a broken jaw he suffered during the preseason after getting punched by one of his own teammates at practice… YIKES.

Fitzpatrick is a serviceable NFL quarterback, but he is definitely no Jay Cutler, which is who has been throwing the ball to Marshall for the majority of his career dating back to their days in the AFC West and the Denver Broncos.

In Week 1, Marshall and the Jets face the Cleveland Browns in what should be a tough day for Marshall. The Browns retained one of the best defensive backs in the league in Joe Haden, who should be shadowing Marshall for the majority of the game.

Consider him an average flex option heading into Week 1.
