5) Chiefs will have a different kicker by the end of the season

Around this time last year, the Kansas City Chiefs parted ways with kicker Ryan Succop. Succop wasn’t a bad kicker for the organization so it was a little surprising when the team decided to go with the young undrafted rookie out of Tulane in Cairo Santos.

Santos showed that the pressure got to him last season, and he makes me nervous heading into 2015.

Santos struggled to start off his rookie season, and immediately fans began to wonder if the Chiefs had made a mistake going with the young rookie over the experienced Succop.

As the season went on, Santos began to calm down a bit and made 13 straight field goal attempts. The biggest moment of the year for Santos came when he booted a 48 yard field goal to give the Chiefs the win over the Chargers in week seven.

Santos showed that the pressure got to him last season, and he makes me nervous heading into 2015. With the new point after attempt rule (it’s now taking place on the 15 yard line), and Santos missing said attempt during preseason, it makes me nervous having Santos as our kicker, especially in tight games.

I would not be shocked at all if the Chiefs end the season with a different kicker by the end of the season. The question is how long the leash will be for Cairo Santos.
