KC Royals: Who Will Be Odd Man Out Of Playoff Rotation

It was a tough call, but Danny Duffy deserves the final spot in the rotation as of now. Kris Medlen hasn’t had nearly as many opportunities on the mound, and that’s why I feel it’s too early to name Medlen to the rotation.

Duffy had a shaky start to 2015, but has looked better since coming off the disabled list in late June. Before that time, Duffy was posting a 5.87 ERA, and has since brought it down to a 4.11. Duffy had his ERA down to a 4.03 at one point.
The Royals have seen Danny Duffy in some great performances this season. His best was in Chicago against the White Sox in mid July, where he went eight innings without allowing a run. Duffy allowed a home run when he came back out in the ninth, but it was still an impressive outing for the left-hander.
Duffy will have to really pitch lights out or close to lights out in order to solidify having a spot in the rotation for the postseason. Duffy, despite having an excellent season in 2014, was a long reliever out of the bullpen for last year’s postseason run, and fans know he’d love nothing more than to be a more direct part of the playoff run this year.
Gotta earn it Daniel.
