7. 10-9, 4.24 ERA in 22 starts. Pitcher. Kansas City Royals. Yordano Ventura. 30. player

Yordano Ventura has been on fire lately.

In his last five starts, Ventura has pitched 32.0 innings, only allowing 20 hits, four earned runs, 13 walks, and 43 strikeouts. Twenty-two of those strikeouts have been from his last two outings. Ventura has posted a 1.13 ERA and 3-0 record during that five game stretch.

He’s been the Ventura of last season; the Ventura we knew and loved during the postseason last year, and that dominant Ventura we saw pitch lights out baseball in Game 6 of the World Series.

While Ventura hasn’t had a terrific season, his last five games have shown us that this kid is improving and is fighting for a spot in the rotation come October. If Yordano Ventura keeps it up, he could potentially be moved to the second spot in the rotation behind Cueto.
