7. 12-7, 3.53 ERA in 28 starts. Pitcher. Kansas City Royals. Edinson Volquez. 36. player

Despite a rocky start on Thursday night in which he got lit up by the Tigers, Edinson Volquez has been solid practically all season long. The chances of him making the postseason roster are nearly guaranteed, unless he continues to struggle for the rest of the season like he did the other night.

Had the Royals not traded for Cueto, Volquez would have for sure been the starting pitcher on the mound for Game 1.

I doubt that’ll happen though.

Had the Royals not traded for Cueto, Volquez would have for sure been the starting pitcher on the mound for Game 1. He’ll get Game 2 more than likely, but a lot of that will depend on these next few weeks, and how he performs during that span.

Still though, you can pretty much bet on seeing Volquez start on the mound for the Royals come playoff time.
