Albert Wilson is a starting wide receiver in the National Football League for the Kansas City Chiefs, yet hardly anyone knows who he is, hence the term “deep sleeper”.

Wilson attended Georgia State for college and went undrafted in 2014. He later signed with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent and ended up being utilized quite frequently in Andy Reid’s system his rookie year.

  • Wilson started two games for the Chiefs during his rookie season and certainly showed promise. The reason to be cautious of him though is the fact that he catches passes from Alex Smith. Smith hasn’t shown a love for throwing the ball deep or down the field much at all, but it’s worth noting that Wilson was the recipient of Smith’s longest pass in 2014 (a 48 yarder against Oakland).

Wilson could be a boom or a bust for your team. He’s either going to really break away and grab a bunch of targets, or he’s going to slump in his second season in the league and be a bench warmer for most of the season. Basically, he’s the definition of a deep sleeper.

If Wilson clicks with the offense, then expect big things from this kid. The Chiefs saw potential from him in 2014, but it’s entirely possible that he could struggle in year two.
