FANTASY FOOTBALL ROOKIES FOR 2015: NUMBER TWO – JAMEIS WINSTON
Were you getting worried I was going to leave him off the list? Of course not. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have needed a quarterback for the past decade, and they’ve finally got one. We all know what Jameis Winston is capable of, and it will be no surprise if he does well in the NFL.
My only concern with Winston is his off-field issues, which is why I have him ranked at #2. He can’t get you fantasy points if he doesn’t actually play. While Tampa Bay may not have much else to work with in terms of receivers, Winston knows how to make plays.
Scott Smith of Buccanneers.com reports that the team was pleased with Winston’s ability to overcome miscues in last week’s preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings.
"“What did I like about what he did?” said Quarterbacks Coach Mike Bajakian. “I would say how he managed the line of scrimmage, how he managed the offense was what we asked him to do. Obviously, you’d like to have a couple of the throws back and the interception, but overall his communication with the rest of the offense, his command – like we’ve talked about since Day One – of the huddle, of the line of scrimmage was very good. And then obviously, he bounced back. After that interception he led that drive down for a touchdown and scored with a good play.”"
The best option at quarterback is a seasoned veteran, but if Winston is still available after the first round, take him in the second.
