Some said Andrew Wiggins was the biggest recruit since LeBron James in 2003 because of his 30 point games in high school and he sure lived up to it.
He was the first pick overall of the 2014 NBA Draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers but soon ended up being a part of the Kevin Love trade that sent him to Minnesota. At the end of the season, he was given the rookie of the year regarding his memorable season with the Timberwolves.
The 6’8 20-year-old averaged 17 points in his rookie season with 4.5 boards a game. Minnesota has taken him in as their star player giving him a role in leading the team. His NBA career has just started, and he will only get better.
Wiggins attended Huntington Prep School in West Virginia although he is from Toronto, Canada. He was the top recruit in 2012 but later announced he would reclassify into the 2013 class where he remained number one.
He was the Gatorade National Player of the Year in 2013 and in late May he announced his commitment to Kansas over Florida State, North Carolina, and Kentucky.
At KU Wiggins put up great numbers at Kansas to add to his great freshman season.
He was one the most well rounded players in college basketball as he was a threat beyond the arch on offense and is a great defender.
His height and athleticism make him the player he is with experts saying he resembles Tracy McGrady and Kevin Durant. He was a first team all Big 12 honoree and a consensus second team all american in 2014.
