9. Travis Releford
Travis Releford is a Kansas City native was raised in nearby Shawnee Mission. In his five years at Kansas, he matured year by year. He decided to redshirt his freshman season that gave him a chance to win 5 Big 12 titles.
Releford came out of KU undrafted and played with the Denver Nuggets in the Las Vegas summer league. He ended up not making the team and later on played overseas in Israel.
International play has been treating him well as he just won a championship with his Israeli team. There could be an NBA future for Releford, but he will have to keep improving his game.
Travis had a great five years at KU with his best coming in his redshirt senior season. He really matured as a shooter hitting 41% from the field in his final year. That year was stacked with players like him and Ben McLemore.
He was not a McDonald’s All-American but was 52nd ranked in 247sports top 100. Releford was an interesting player to watch with his shooting and defensive capabilities. He was a great Jayhawk, and number 24 won’t look the same on anyone else.
