FANTASY FOOTBALL SLEEPERS IN 2015 NUMBER 8: JAMEIS WINSTON
“Famous” Jameis Winston was the number one overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after winning a National Championship a year ago with Florida State.
Winston is a natural-born leader and knows how to command an offense. As a freshman at Florida State, he was already one of the team’s captains and spokesmen and I think that his leadership qualities will transfer into the NFL, which should give him some credibility right off the bat.
Jameis has a great arm to go along with good size and above average speed for a quarterback. The downside to his game is that he does like to take chances and it costed him at Florida State where he threw plenty of interceptions.
In the NFL, if he plays reckless like this, he could find himself benched really quickly, but I think his talent is just too good to not be Tampa’s starter.
I see Winston having a pretty good year in his first year in the NFL. He will have the tandem of Vincent Jackson and Mike Evans to throw to, which should help with his interception problem when you consider that both Jackson and Evans are both 6-foot-5 or taller and could easily breakup a bad pass if need be.
Like Bridgewater in the previous slide, I wouldn’t draft Winston as your starting fantasy quarterback, but I could see him developing into one as the season progresses.
If you need a quarterback in the later rounds, don’t be afraid to nab Winston.
