FANTASY FOOTBALL SLEEPERS IN 2015 NUMBER 10: JORDAN MATTHEWS
Jordan Matthews was a pleasant surprise for Eagles head coach Chip Kelly last season, which was his first in the NFL. He came on strong late in the season and actually ended it with only 120 yards away from 1,000 on the season.
Matthews showed the ability to get open, catch the ball, and make plays to get down the field on a consistent basis and I believe this is the reason that the Eagles decided not to bring back their #1 receiver from last year, Jeremy Maclin, who signed with the Chiefs during the free agency period.
The Eagles now have Matthews and Riley Cooper as the most likely candidates for the #1 wide out spot in Kelly’s up-tempo, run-and-gun style of offense that runs a record amount of plays per game. I have my money on Matthews
This should keep Matthews busy, and his targets should close to double in his sophomore season. I also think the change at quarterback to Sam Bradford will also help Matthews progress as long as he can stay on the field, which has been his biggest problem since entering the league.
I really like Matthews this year in fantasy, and I think that he is a very viable flex option heading into drafts, and I see him being as productive as a #2 fantasy wide out right out of the gate for his owners.
