Donald Stephenson was called into action when starting right tackle Jeff Allen went to the lockerroom early with an injury, and he appeared to do a solid job with his assignments.

It’s never really been a question of Stephenson’s physical ability.

He’s 6-feet 6-inches, 312 pounds and he’s a natural athlete for his size. Not many guys that big can move like he does.

Stephenson is one of the surviving members of the Scott Pioli-era, so the fact that he’s still around is a testament to his ability.

He was out in space clearing the way for Knile Davis on a 20-yard run in the first quarter. He played well into the second quarter and got good reps at both tackle positions.

If he can keep up with the mental demands of an Andy Reid offensive line, he’ll likely have plenty of opportunities to force his way into playing time. The Chiefs offensive line isn’t exactly set it stone, so Stephenson could be a viable option if Jeff Allen’s injury is serious.

Stephenson is one of the surviving members of the Scott Pioli-era, so the fact that he’s still around is a testament to his ability. The majority of the roster has been turned over since General Manager John Dorsey took the job.

Stephenson is a Kansas City, Missouri native. He was drafted in 2012 out of the University of Oklahoma.
