FANTASY FOOTBALL TIGHT ENDS NUMBER 10: OWEN DANIELS
Owen Daniels moves over to Denver with his former offensive coordinator, Gary Kubiak, who will now be taking over duties as the Broncos, head coach.
It goes without saying, but he gets an immediate upgrade with Peyton Manning as his quarterback, and that will likely skyrocket him to the top of tight end draft boards.
Draft him in a later round if available, and stash him away until we see what he and Manning are capable of this late into their careers.
If we ignore his injury-plagued 2013, Daniels put up over 1,200 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2012 and 2014 combined.
He’s 32 now, but after seeing what Manning did for Julius Thomas’ career, there’s plenty of upside here, and eight touchdowns shouldn’t be out of reach if he can stay healthy.
There’s still room for concern here, though.
Last year Daniels scored less than five fantasy points in 11 different games, and if he doesn’t produce from the start, Virgil Green’s much younger set of legs will be ready to immediately step in. If the stars align in Denver, a healthy Daniels may be able to be your team’s starting tight end, but there’s too much risk to be comfortable with him right away in Week 1.
Draft him in a later round if available, and stash him away until we see what he and Manning are capable of this late into their careers.
