FANTASY FOOTBALL TIGHT ENDS NUMBER 12: COBY FLEENER
The Luck-Fleener combination developed at Stanford continues to improve, with Coby Fleener receiving eight of Andrew Luck’s 40 touchdowns last season for almost 800 yards.
Fleener isn’t an absolute, for sure starter, especially in smaller leagues, and he will likely still be available in the fourth round and on.
Fleener looks more like a wide receiver and suffers from receiver-centric problems like drops and mental mistakes, but even with Andre Johnson joining the team, there’s plenty of action for everyone.
Those on “Team Dwayne Allen” should note that while each finished 2014 with eight touchdowns, Allen had less than 400 yards and averaged just 30.4 per game in the 13 he played. Allen will continue to be boom or bust each week depending on whether he gets into the end zone while Fleener will offer owners more consistency this year.
The fact of the matter is that Fleener, while not a must-start guy, is on an up and coming offense in Indianapolis, and this very well could be the former Stanford standout’s breakout season.
Fleener isn’t an absolute, for sure starter, especially in smaller leagues, and he will likely still be available in the fourth round and on. He still could give you solid production each week because again, he has Andrew Luck throwing the ball to him. I like those odds.
