FANTASY FOOTBALL TIGHT ENDS NUMBER 4: GREG OLSEN
Many would be surprised to learn that Greg Olsen was the only tight end besides Gronkowski who put up over 1000 yards in 2014. He’s healthy and consistent, playing in all 16 games and scoring at least five touchdowns in each season dating back to 2008.
Olsen’s not going to break out for huge games, but he scored 10+ points in eight games last season and can be a lock to contribute each week.
Winning and losing matchups by 50 points with volatile rosters typically doesn’t bode well for the fantasy playoffs, and a guy like Olsen helps avoid that scenario. Olsen and Kelvin Benjamin each had 1000+ yards last year, and no one else on the team had at least 600 yards or more than two touchdown receptions.
Is it possible second-round pick Devin Funchess eats into that a little? Sure, but I’d rather bet on more of the same from Olsen than a huge year for the rookie.
