FANTASY FOOTBALL TIGHT ENDS NUMBER 6: ZACH ERTZ
Everyone loved predicting Ertz as the breakout tight end to watch in 2014, but he ended the year with fewer touchdowns (three) than in his 2013 rookie campaign.
It Ertz is lingering in the mid-to-late rounds of your draft, snag him and don’t be surprised if he winds up among the top five tight ends in fantasy production this year.
He had a reception in every game but one and put up over 700 yards, but he was only on the field for about half of the snaps. With only one game in which he had over five receptions, it’s scary to think what he could do if given more opportunities.
If the reports start to come in from training camp that his blocking has improved, he could be out there a lot more in 2015, and the breakout might just be here on a one-year delay. Although Brent Celek is still lurking, the departure of Jeremy Maclin certainly offers up more targets for him as well.
There’s a risk that the Eagles will be over-reliant on DeMarco Murray this year, but the 24-year-old Ertz is hungry and ready to prove to Philly he was everything they envisioned getting after his second-round selection in 2013.
