FANTASY FOOTBALL TIGHT ENDS NUMBER 7: JULIUS THOMAS
It’s hard to get past the little yellow Jaguar that will be painted on Julius Thomas‘ helmet this year, although I’m sure the $24 million in guaranteed money is helping assuage some of Thomas’ own sorrow. While it’s fair to temper expectations for Thomas in Jacksonville, there’s no doubt he will still be fantasy-relevant.

Yes, to go from Peyton Manning to Blake Bortles is a [insert hyperbolic adjective] decline in talent.
Yes, Thomas had more touchdown receptions as a tight end last year than Bortles threw for in the entire season.
The targets are going to be there though, and Thomas’ own stats don’t have to suffer when Bortles throws an interception, so he should still produce. Cut the touchdowns in half, but if he stays healthy, 700-800 yards isn’t unreasonable.
Thomas won’t be the type of fantasy tight end he’s been the past two seasons without Manning throwing to him anymore. Blake Bortles is still an up and coming quarterback though, and he’ll still find Thomas enough this season to make him more than worthy as your tight end.
Draft Julius Thomas sometime in the third or fourth round if he’s still there.
