Fantasy Football Defenses Number 11: Baltimore Ravens

When you think of the Baltimore Ravens, you probably think of defense. They’ve been a fantasy football staple since Ray Lewis in the early 2000’s, and until that changes, they’re a good bet in fantasy football. They always draft well, and they’re always well-coached.

Defensive coordinator Dean Pees has been leading the defense since 2012, and he previously held the same position under Bill Belichick in New England.

I would have no problem drafting the Ravens late in fantasy football drafts.

Last season, the Ravens were second in the NFL with 50 sacks, and they were magnificent against the run, allowing just 88 rushing yards per game.

The Ravens should provide owners a consistent fantasy football defense week to week.

They traded longtime defensive presence Haloti Ngata, and replacing him will not be easy, but the Ravens have a dynamic defensive roster that should carry on the tradition of a solid team defense.

For fantasy purposes, pass rushing linebackers Terrell Suggs and Elvis Dumervil give your defense a chance at some virtually automatic points every week. Dumervil posted 17 sacks last season while Suggs posted 12.

Middle linebackers Daryl Smith and C.J. Mosley led the team in tackles. Mosley, at just 22 years old, made his first Pro Bowl. And speaking of young impact players, defensive lineman Timmy Jernigan posted four sacks despite starting only three games.

The Ravens should provide owners a consistent fantasy football defense week-to-week.
