The MLB Trade Deadline is over, but the Royals rumors could very well continue as the KC Royals make a push to the playoffs.

The Kansas City Royals turned heads during the MLB trade deadline by signing Johnny Cueto and Ben Zobrist in exchange for five total minor-league pitchers. Both were moves that were very un-Kansas City Royal like, but it’s a situation that the team hadn’t been in for a long time.

While Cueto is undoubtedly the Royals’ ace heading into the last few months of the season, should the Royals consider adding another arm?

After learning that Chris Young would be removed from the rotation and sent to the bullpen, the boys in blue have Cueto, Danny Duffy, Jeremy Guthrie, Yordano Ventura, and Edinson Volquez as their starting pitchers. You could easily make an argument that Guthrie has pitched his way out of the rotation, but as of now, he’s in that fifth starter spot.

The good news is that the fifth starter spot isn’t typically a thing during the postseason, but the bad news is that means Guthrie will still have several starts to make between now and October.

With all of that said, should the KC Royals go out and try to get another pitcher off waivers, or make a trade if some pitchers were to make it through waivers without being claimed?

Let’s take a look at some of the options for the Royals if they do indeed decide to add another arm to their rotation.
