  • What makes these two teams stand out?

Well, the ’80 KC Royals had their most successful season ever to that point in time. They defeated the Yankees and made it to the World Series for the first time in franchise history. Sadly, the Royals eventually lost to the Philadelphia Phillies.

It looks like things might favor the Royals in this round, as these Royals won in the first round against the 2010 Chiefs. Those Chiefs went 10-6 and won a division title, so it’s not like it was a cakewalk of a first round.

The 1997 Chiefs could run circles around the 2010 team by far though. They went 13-3 in Tony Gonzalez’s first pro season, but both squads had a common goal – they were not able to win a playoff game, as ’97’s team lost to Denver.

It was a season that saw both Elvis Grbac and Rich Gannon under center for the Chiefs, and that later became a quarterback controversy for the Chiefs.

The ’97 Chiefs took down the ’50-’51 K-State basketball team by over 20 votes.

Which one of these KC franchises will win? You decide.
