(3) 2007 Kansas Football vs. (6) 1993 KC Chiefs

The Kansas Jayhawks are not a school known for football, but 2007 was one of the exceptions. That year saw KU playing in, and winning, the Orange Bowl against Virginia Tech. It was a KU team lead by Todd Reesing, and an exciting time for Jayhawks fans.

  • The Jayhawks fell to the Missouri Tigers in that year’s Border War at Arrowhead Stadium, but KU had the last laugh, as they won a major bowl game.

KU defeated the 2013 KC Chiefs in the first round, and rightfully so. KU won a bowl game and that season’s Chiefs team couldn’t even win a playoff game when they had a four-touchdown lead at half time. I’m not bitter or anything though.

The 1993 Chiefs though… Man, they had some good times. Led by Joe Montana, the Chiefs made it all the way to the AFC Championship game, where they lost to the Buffalo Bills and barely missed out on their third Super Bowl appearance.

This was the last season in which the Chiefs would win a playoff game, and it was against a franchise that doesn’t even exist anymore (the Houston Oilers).

These Chiefs defeated the 1898-99 KU basketball in the first round, a team that was coached by James Naismith himself (the inventor of basketball).

Will the ’93 Chiefs be able to take down one of the best KU football teams in recent years?
