The 1969 KC Chiefs deserve to make it pretty dang far in this tournament if you ask me. Why do I say that?
Well, that season’s squad has been the only Chiefs team to win the Super Bowl in the franchise’s 55-year history. They certainly deserved to win in the first round, and the Chiefs did just that, smoking their first round opponent 107-3 (again, props to those Mizzou fans).
Winning a championship is reason enough for the ’69 Chiefs to move on, but the KU basketball fans are diehards and they managed to vote their ’01-’02 boys to the next round. KU upset eighth-seeded ’93-’94 MU basketball in the first round, just the team KU fans would want to beat.
It will be tough for KU to make it through this round, but anything is possible in the world of bracketlogy — and in sports.
