(2) 2014 KC Royals vs. (7) 1996-1997 Kansas Basketball

The 2014 Kansas City Royals were an incredible team to watch. KC natives obviously agree, as the 2014 Royals blew out their 15-seeded opponent in the first round 116-1 (good for that lone Missouri Tigers fan out there staying true to their school).

  • Last year’s Royals made it to the postseason for the first time in 29 years, and went on to win the Wildcard game in one of the greatest baseball games of all time.

The Royals then swept their opponents in the ALDS and ALCS and ended up making it to Game 7 of the World Series, and coming 90 feet short of tying it up in the ninth inning.

This round could be a little tougher for the Royals to stay on top, as they’ll square off against the 96-97 KU basketball team. That season’s squad lost in the Sweet Sixteen, but it was considered to be one of the best KU teams possibly ever.

Which “blue team” will you be casting your vote for?
