Week 11: Chiefs VS Seahawks (Chiefs won 24-20)
Week 11 brought the Chiefs’ toughest opponent to Arrowhead in the Seattle Seahawks, also known as that season’s reigning Super Bowl champions.
Both teams possessed great run games, stout defenses, and quarterbacks who were dangerous with their legs. Should be a good game, right?
It was a tremendous game that saw the Chiefs leading until the third quarter in way below freezing temperatures in the Midwest (so brutally cold).
It was an impressive game for both sides of the ball, and this could be a game that Kansas City Chiefs fans remember for a long time.
The Chiefs struck first near the end of the first quarter when Jamaal Charles bounced into the end zone to put Kansas City on the board. The Seahawks tied things up in the second with a Russell Wilson pass to Doug Baldwin, but the Chiefs took the lead shortly after with an impressive 16 yard run by Charles.
Steven Hauschka kicked two field goals before the half to make it a one-point game heading into half time.
Cairo Santos tacked on a Chiefs field goal, but Seattle took their first lead of the game in the third quarter when Wilson hit former Chief Tony Moeaki with a one-yard touchdown pass. It was the only time of the game where the Seahawks would lead, as Knile Davis ran into the end zone in the fourth quarter to give the Chiefs a 24-20 lead.
The huge factor in this game was the Seahawks going 0-for-3 on their fourth down attempts late in the game. The Chiefs defense continued to get huge stops and put any chance of Seattle converting down the drain.
It was an impressive game for both sides of the ball, and this could be a game that Kansas City Chiefs fans remember for a long time. It was also the fifth straight game that the Chiefs won, so what game could possibly top it?
