(1) 2007-08 Kansas Basketball  vs. (16) 2003 KC Royals

The video below tells you all you need to know about the 2007-08 national championship season for the Jayhawks.

If not for 2003 the Royals would have finished with a losing record 19 straight seasons. These Royals started the season 9-0 and led the AL Central by seven games at the all-star break.

However, a second-half collapse saw KC finish 83-79, seven games behind division champ Minnesota. While it was disapointing, it was fun while it lasted.

In an interesting twist, finishing above .500 triggered a clause in all-star Mike Sweeney’s contract that could have ended after the 2004 season. Instead, it locked him in through 2007.
