(3) 1977 KC Royals vs. (14) 2008 Missouri Football
The KC Royals have won at least 100 games once, and it was 1977 when they finished 102-60.
While it ended in a 3-2 best-of-five series to the Yankees it was still one to remember. The Royals had the most wins in all of baseball and won the West easily with an eight-game cushion on second place Texas.
The season ended on a rough note though as KC blew a 1-0 series lead, and a 2-1 lead in the eighth inning of the deciding game five, before falling 5-3.
The Opening Day lineup included KC legends Brett, Frank White, Amos Otis, Hal McRae and Paul Splittorff.
The 2008 MU football season was the second in a row that ended with a Big 12 North title, double-digits wins and a bowl victory.
Mizzou finished 10-4 and knocked off Northwestern in the Alamo Bowl. The season also featured a 52-17 blowout of Nebraska. Current Chief Jeremy Maclin had 102 catches, 1,260 yards and 13 touchdowns.
