(6) 2013 Missouri Football vs. (11) 1984 KC Royals
Missouri football was supposed to be awful after moving to the SEC three years ago, and it was in 2012. However, the 2013 season was much different. The Tigers finished 7-1 and won the SEC East Division, en route to a 12-2 season and a 41-31 Cotton Bowl victory over former Big 12 conference foe Oklahoma State.
SEC co-Defensive Player of the Year Michael Sam, who had been quiet all game, forced a fumble late in the game to seal the win.
The 1984 Royals were setting the pace for what would be a World Series victory one year later. Despite losing to eventual champion Detroit, the Royals won the West with an 84-78 record.
Bud Black was 17-12 on the mound, while Steve Balboni cracked 28 home runs and 77 RBI, both team highs.
