(5) 1976 KC Royals vs. (12) 1965 Missouri Football
The Royals only took three years to finish above .500, but it was eight years before they won their first division crown and played their first postseason game.
After finishing 90-72 in 1976, the KC Royals just missed their first World Series appearance, losing 3-2 to the Yankees in the ALCS.
It was also the first of 13 straight all-star seasons for the greatest Royal of them all — George Brett — who hit .333 with seven home runs and 67 RBI.
The Missouri football team finished 8-2-1 and was ranked sixth heading in to a match-up with Florida and quarterback Steve Spurrier.
Mizzou jumped ahead 20-0 before holding on for a two-point victory. It was the third of four straight bowl wins for the Tigers.
This could be a tough choice for those who are fans of both the KC Royals and the Missouri Tigers.
