Royals VS Rays: July 7th (day game) at Kauffman Stadium (Royals won 9-5)

Some people might think it’s crazy that three of the best games this season came in one series, but they did, and they were all awesome. The best one took place during a day game July 7th against the Tampa Bay Rays.

This game is the best of the series against the Rays because I mean really… A walk-off grand slam is pretty freaking cool.

Monday night’s game was postponed due to rain, so the Royals and Rays had a doubleheader to take part in on Tuesday. All game long the lead changed between the two teams. The Rays struck first against Chris Young with one run, but the Royals took a 3-1 lead later that inning.

The Rays then tacked on three runs in the fourth, but the Royals tied things back up that same inning. Kansas City took the lead in the seventh, but Greg Holland had an off-day and blew a save in the ninth.

That set up an incredible memory for Kansas City Royals fans, as Paulo Orlando belted a walk-off grand slam to left field to give Kansas City their third walk-off victory in less than a week.

This game is the best of the series against the Rays because I mean really… A walk-off grand slam is pretty freaking cool. What’s even cooler is that Paulo had just been called up that day and was playing in the majors for the first time in almost two months, and he did THAT.

It wasn’t a triple, but hey… Royals fans will take it.
