Royals VS Yankees: May 15th at Kauffman Stadium (Royals won 12-1)

This game makes the list mainly due to the fact that it was A) a huge blowout and B) against the Yankees. Anytime the Royals can pound the Yankees, fans are all for it.

This game saw Chris Young and Michael Pineda taking the mound for their respective teams and Young went out and dealt. He gave up one run early on, and then his offense took care of the rest putting up 12 runs and laying the smack down on those pesky Yankees.

The parade of runs started in the sixth inning when the Royals were able to pound in six runs with the game tied at 1-1. The Royals then tacked on four more the very next inning, and against a very good pitcher in Pineda nonetheless.

This game was also big because Mike Moustakas came within a few feet of hitting for the cycle, and really started showing fans that the new Moose was here to stay.

It was one of those games where you knew you could turn the TV off and go do other things, but it was just too much fun watching the Yankees get beat up on.

Like I said above, this game is included because it’s nice to witness your team be on the winning side of a blowout, and it’s even sweeter when it’s against the New York Yankees.

The Royals went on to win this series two games to one, but later got swept by the Yankees when they met in New York. One of those games included Jeremy Guthrie‘s embarrassment of a start, but if the two teams met again, I’d say advantage Royals for sure.
