The Kansas City Royals lead the American League with a .602 win percentage in the season’s first half (as of July 9th). After starting the year 7-0, the defending AL Champions are a season-best 17 games above .500, and look like a refined (better) version of the 2014 World Series team.

This year’s team has had setbacks, but so far they’ve continued to stay on schedule, winning games in bunches and evading long losing streaks – often a hallmark of a strong team.

Through July 9th, the Kansas City Royals ride a five-game winning streak, and remain in line to finish with the best record in the first half of the American League race. It’s nothing more than a 5.5 game division lead in early July, but it’s all you can ask for with 79 games left to play.
