KC Chiefs: A Pessimistic Guide To 2015 Season

“Our secondary is inexperienced!”
This is one that isn’t echoed as much as the others, mainly due to Sean Smith‘s presence in the secondary. Looking at the rest of the secondary though, you have Marcus Peters, Phillip Gaines, Jamell Fleming, and Marcus Cooper. These corners are all young guys, and first round pick from last year’s draft Marcus Peters, is slated to be one of the starters this season.

With Smith possibly being suspended early on in the season, the first two games could see Peters and Gaines playing out the cornerback spots. People aren’t too thrilled about this due to the fact that the Chiefs play the Broncos in week two, and we all know what Peyton Manning can do against a poor or inexperienced secondary. I don’t care if he’s “past his prime”, the dude will shred the secondary apart if they’re not prepared.
As for the safety spot, Ron Parker isn’t worth the type of deal he signed. Last season was the only year that he looked halfway decent and that was after he was put in the safety spot rather than cornerback. With Eric Berry‘s status for 2015 still up in the air, it could be a long season of watching Parker getting torched in the secondary.
After a season where the Chiefs’ secondary was terrific, it’s scary not knowing what to expect from some of the younger guys.
