I know I will get crap for ranking Ryan Madson ahead of Herrera, but I love Ryan Madson and what he has been able to do so far in the Kansas City Royals’ bullpen. That is why he is the third best reliever (in my opinion) in the Royals bullpen.

Madson, coming off Tommy John surgery, was signed during the off season and was considered a “risky addition” to the bullpen. Man, has it paid off though!

Madson has very much been the fourth addition of the H-D-H tandem, and when one of those guys needs a night off, Madson is the guy the Kansas City Royals lean on.

He’s given up three home runs (the same amount as all of H-D-H combined), but when you see Madson go into a game, you know he’s going to go out there and give it all he has and get out of that inning as quickly as possible.

His recent appearance came against the Twins in the seventh inning in relief of Jeremy Guthrie. Madson went on to get out of the inning, recording two outs (one being a strikeout).

Madson has very much been the fourth addition of the H-D-H tandem, and when one of those guys needs a night off, Madson is the guy the Kansas City Royals lean on. He’s simply been fantastic and it’s nice to know that if a member of H-D-H can’t go, Madson is there to take the mound.

Highlight of 2015 season so far: There have been so many! In an early season game against Cleveland, Madson went out and dealt, striking out two batters in one inning of work. That was a typical performance from Mr. Madson, and hopefully those kind of performances stick around.

Lowlight of 2015 season so far: There have been some less than stellar appearances for the former Phillies closer. One such game was against the Indians early on (around the same time as his best performance), where Madson gave up his first home run of the season and allowed one run to score in a close game. The Royals went on to lose by two runs.
