What a terrific signing Chris Young was for the Kansas City Royals!

If the Royals made it to the playoffs, I would want Chris Young as the second starter in the rotation because he’s been absolutely terrific on the mound.

Signed as a reliever during the off season, Young was originally going to be a long term reliever out of the bullpen, but suspensions and injuries pushed him into the starting rotation. Royals fans certainly aren’t upset about that in the least bit, as Young has been dominant in the rotation.

Originally taking over for Yordano Ventura during his suspension, Young has absolutely dealt against batters, going 6-2 and posting a 1.98 ERA in eight starts. He had two rough starts, one against New York and another against Cleveland (they happened to occur back to back), where he gave up three home runs total. Young bounced back though, blanking the Twins in an almost no hitter that came to a close in the sixth inning.

Not only has Chris Young been great on the slab, but he also had quite the at bats on Tuesday night against Milwaukee. He had two hits for three RBIs for a batting average of .667, which I find hilarious since he’s a pitcher.

Going back to pitching though, Chris Young has been one of the few starters in the rotation that has consistently been reliable, and I don’t see why Ned Yost would take him out of the rotation when Danny Duffy comes back. Young needs to stay in the rotation. If the Royals made it to the playoffs, I would want Chris Young as the second starter in the rotation because he’s been absolutely terrific on the mound.
