Maybe this is my “get off my lawn” moment, but if you look at that and think that’s cool, or funny, or you’ve taken an active role in inflating votes for Infante and Rios, then I question your fanhood. I know it doesn’t make much sense considering my beloved Royals are the beneficiary of this bush league practice, but this game DOES actually count.

The way I see it, a vote for Infante and Rios is actually a vote for the National League.

The winning league of the All-Star Game nets home field advantage in the World Series for their league’s representative. Let me simplify this: If the American League wins the All-Star Game, and if the Kansas City Royals somehow return to the World Series, Kauffman Stadium would again be center-stage for the October Classic for four games (potentially), instead of just three should the National League win the All-Star Game.

Or, yet another way of looking at it is that since the American League won the 2014 All-Star Game, the Royals earned the right to host four awesome games during last year’s World Series.

So, if you’re like me, and would like to see another World Series appearance by our Kansas City Royals, then why would you hitch your wagon and home field advantage opportunity to Infante and Rios? Do you really think if they play, much less start, in the All-Star game, they give the American League the best chance to win? Hot take: They don’t!

The way I see it, a vote for Infante and Rios is actually a vote for the National League. That’s your way of saying you don’t want home field advantage for the Royals, should they be fortunate enough to return to the World Series. So, I don’t know, stop patting yourself on the back for thinking you’re a super-fan for maxing out your Royals-only ballot, and maybe think about things a little deeper.

I hesitate to mention the integrity you’re stripping from the rest of the deserved, or semi-deserved Royals you’re voting for.
