Yeah so this one is slim, I get that. Jermaine Gresham, however, is definitely the best tight end available on the free agent market and if the Chiefs could land him for a reasonable price, I say do it.

The knock on Gresham is that he recently underwent herniated disc surgery during the off season, and that is definitely something keeping teams away from him (Source of link: Chris Wesseling of NFL.com). According to Doug Farrar of Sports Illustrated though, the Arizona Cardinals are interested in acquiring Gresham, and it’s not difficult to see why.

  • The former Oklahoma Sooner has over 2,700 yards in five seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals and 24 touchdowns. His best season came in 2012 when he had over 700 yards receiving with five touchdowns. That was Gresham’s second straight Pro Bowl appearance.

Gresham, a former first round pick in 2010, was a bit of an underachiever with the Bengals during his five years there. While he did make two Pro Bowls, Gresham wasn’t necessarily the dominating force that the Bengals expected him to be, which may have something to do with why he wasn’t re-signed.

I understand that Gresham is a good enough tight end to be a starter for a team, which is why I don’t think the KC Chiefs would go after him, and why I don’t think he’d sign with Kansas City even if they did come knocking.

You have to admit though. Kelce and Gresham as the two starting tight ends for this team would be downright scary.
