It’s hard to be considered a primary fantasy football running back when you’re sitting behind possibly the primary fantasy football running back. Such is life for Knile Davis, who is a very solid running back on his own (though he has his problems), he probably won’t be considered a real juggernaut in fantasy football because of his teammate Jamaal Charles.

Davis saw a lot of the field last season. Heck, I even had the guy on my fantasy team. In 2014, Davis totaled 134 carries for 463 yards. Along with this, he collected six total rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown, per his profile on NFL.com.

Simply put, Davis isn’t worth a top pick in your league if you’re doing a points-per-touch (PPT) style league. Having said that, Davis is a great guy to have sitting on your bench in case your top running back goes down or its said running back’s bye week.

I like Davis because he’s a power runner with the ability to make defenders miss. The way he can accelerate through the hole almost reminds me of former Chiefs’ running back, Priest Holmes.

Don’t get me wrong here; I’m not saying Davis is an elite running back. He does have his fair share of issues.

Primarily, Davis is an impatient runner. From the games I’ve watched with Davis, he has troubles waiting for his hole to develop. In this scenario he has the tendency to put his shoulders down and try to make a hole. Though he has great size for a running back, the NFL is full of bigger linebackers who will punish him.

With the Chiefs gaining a plethora of different offensive weapons, I feel that Davis is still worth a look in most leagues. He may not be the flashy scorer that Charles is, but he’ll definitely get you a solid point total.

There’s a good chance that I will be looking to put Knile Davis on my fantasy football team this upcoming season.

That’s if I can’t get Jamaal Charles.
