Were you honestly surprised? At the running back position there are very few who are as big of a threat as Jamaal Charles.

With the exception of the 2011 season in which he tore his ACL, Charles has topped the 1,000 rushing yard mark every season since the 2009 season when he was Larry Johnson‘s back up (and soon-to-be replacement).

Last season, Charles had a mediocre season in terms of his rushing yard total with 1,033 but he did have another solid season in terms of rushing touchdowns with nine. He also proved he was one of the best receivers on the Chiefs last season. He caught 40 passes for 291 yards and five touchdowns. These stats were pulled from his NFL.com profile.

Charles is still one of the fastest running backs in the game. He still has the ability to make any defender miss at any level and is always a threat to take it all the way in.

In a time where everybody seems to favor running backs early on in their fantasy drafts, Charles is sure to go in the first round of many fantasy football drafts.

Even though he’s going into his eighth season, Charles is still one of the fastest running backs in the game. He still has the ability to make any defender miss at any level and is always a threat to take it all the way in.

One reason for his lower rushing yard total could come from the fact the Chiefs’ offensive line was atrocious last season. Given the fact that the Chiefs have bolstered their line, Charles could be in for another monster year.

Jamaal Charles is definitely an early-round pick. Even though the Chiefs have a bunch of new receivers that show promise and a solid backup running back, I still believe that this KC Chiefs offense will thrive off of Jamaal Charles.

He’s proven time and time again that his is quite possibly the best running back in the National Football League today. Another season with a solid offensive line could give Charles a chance to help take his team to a deep playoff run. Only time will tell.
