Missouri. Shane Ray. 1. player. 45. 1st round, Pick #23 (#23rd overall). DE

We all knew Shane Ray was going in the top three in the draft, but then, there were concerns about his size. Once that talk happened, most knew Ray was going within the first five picks in the draft. After that, there were concerns about his combine results, or lack thereof.

Basically, no one knew what was going to happen to Ray on draft day. He has the talent to be a superstar, but was it worth it considering his concerns?

By that point, we all knew Ray was going somewhere in the top 10 in the draft. Ray then reportedly had a foot injury, so basically, we narrowed it down to Ray going sometime in the first round.

Just when it seemed like it couldn’t get any worse for Shane Ray, he gets caught with marijuana during the biggest week of his life.

Basically, no one knew what was going to happen to Ray on draft day. He has the talent to be a superstar, but was it worth it considering his concerns? Unfortunately, the first team that said “Yes” to that previous question was the Denver Broncos.

The Broncos saw potential in Ray, and traded up to get him with the 23rd overall pick. Here’s what NFL.com’s Mike Mayock had to say about the pick:

"“I thought Ray had the quickest first step among pass rushers. He had a foot problem that some thought would cause him to fall in the draft. Then Monday he got pulled over. A lot of people thought that would force him out of the first round. Remember, DeMarcus Ware is 33 years old.”"

While I wish Ray all the individual success in the world, it will be nearly impossible to root for him once I see him in those gaudy blue and orange jerseys.
