Okay, I’m not going to lie. I mainly drafted Gavin Luttman because he went to Pittsburg State, which is a Division 2 school (I attended Central Missouri so yay D2! Go Mules!). With that said though, Luttman has quite the resumé despite attending a “smaller school”.

“I was at his workout. He tested well but what I really liked was how smart he was when we spoke with him. I don’t think the jump to the NFL will be too much for him early on. He’ll get drafted.” — AFC area scout

"Big wide receiver who has the production, athleticism, hands and upside teams will be looking for from a day-three prospect. Lutman doesn’t always play to his timed speed, but the tape shows a receiver who easily kicks to a second gear when he needs to chase down a vertical throw. Has the ability to make the tough catch underneath or threaten down the field. Ascending prospect who has the league’s attention after his outstanding pro day. – NFL.com"

Taking a player from Pitt State isn’t a new trend, as the Arizona Cardinals took John Brown last year in the third round. Brown ended up with 48 receptions and just under 700 yards with five touchdowns on the year. Not bad for a rookie from a Division 2 school.

Luttman has the ability to be a similar breakout player, but hopefully he’ll do it as a member of the Kansas City Chiefs. Plus, Pittsburg is only about two hours from Arrowhead so I’m sure Gavin Luttman is all too familiar with the Chiefs.
