Just a few hours outside of town is Manhattan, Kansas, where wide receiver Tyler Lockett played four great seasons of college football with the Kansas State Wildcats. Not only does Lockett have the local thing going for him, but his father Kevin Lockett is a former second round pick by the Kansas City Chiefs (1997).

Lockett could come in and compete for that main slot receiver position and I’m sure he’d do a great job catching passes from Alex Smith this season.

Lockett has been quoted in the past saying he’d love to become a member of the Kansas City Chiefs, which is always nice.

"“I would love to play for the Kansas City Chiefs,” [Lockett] said. “Andy Reid is a great coach. If the Chiefs give me an opportunity, I’ll take it and I’ll run with it.” – Via BJ Kissel of KC Chiefs’ official website"

Lockett would likely serve as a slot receiver and a special teams player (punt returner more specifically), and as we all know, De’Anthony Thomas currently plays both of those roles for the Chiefs. Now there’s no rule that the team can only have one prime punt returner, in fact a lot of teams don’t, but that has been Thomas’ place to shine.

Lockett could come in and compete for that main slot receiver position and I’m sure he’d do a great job catching passes from Alex Smith this season.

"Highly competitive with a history of production at Kansas State. Utilizes great routes and suddenness out of his breaks to get consistent separation. Lockett is a film rat who can come in and compete for a slot receiver spot right away and should be an NFL punt returner. – NFL.com"

Expect Tyler Lockett to be drafted any time between round two and round four.
