2) Offense

The Royals struggled with getting runs last season, yet their fabulous pitching, and even more fabulous bullpen, allowed them to get away with it (most of the time). This season, however, it’s been a huge 180 degree turnaround for the team when it comes to plating runs.

This offense has turned every game this season into at least a two-run game in favor of the Royals. They’ve been the offense that when their pitcher gives up a run early on, they strike right back with TWO runs of their own.

The Royals have been a blast to watch on offense. I no longer cringe when there’s a runner on third because now I have confidence that the guy batting will get him to home plate (except maybe Omar Infante).

Mike Moustakas has been one of the big surprises at the plate so far this season. I think I speak for most Royals fans when I say that no one was particularly thrilled when we heard Moose would be batting second in the lineup. He has done quite well though, as he’s now been able to hit the ball to opposite field, and has two bunts, according to Fangraphs.

It’s just nice to know that if a pitcher has a bad day and gives up several runs, the offense will be able to do their part and keep the Royals in the game.
