3) Bullpen

Some may consider this to be number one, but come on. We all knew the Kansas City Royals’ bullpen would be topnotch this season. The bullpen has not allowed a single run in 19 innings pitched. That’s INSANE.

Opposing teams pretty much know if they’re trailing by the time the seventh inning rolls around that they’re not going to score anymore runs.

With the likes of Kelvin Herrera, Wade Davis, and Greg Holland, opposing teams pretty much know if they’re trailing by the time the seventh inning rolls around that they’re not going to score anymore runs. This trio became a nationwide trend during the 2014 postseason, and are now known as HDH, at least locally.

Now the weird thing is that this trio hasn’t even had to carry a ton of the work load so far because the Royals have actually been putting runs on the board. In fact, no member HDH has had to pitch since Saturday’s game against the Angels.

That’s because of the fact that every pitcher in the bullpen is good. Yes, you have HDH, but there’s also Jason Frasor, Ryan Madson, Franklin Morales, and Chris Young to hold things down when those three guys are unavailable. Oh, and don’t forget Luke Hochevar should be back soon, and Kris Medlen will join the pen later on this season.

This Royals bullpen? Straight up NASTY.
