4) Defense

Last season, the Kansas City Royals had one of the best defenses in the majors. This season has continued that trend, as the Royals have continued to rob opposing offenses of hits and runs. It’s honestly looked like this defense has gotten better from last year, if that was even possible.

Not only have we seen great plays from the expected players like Alex Gordon and Lorenzo Cain, but even new guy Alex Rios has gotten in on the action. Rios had an unbelievable defensive play against the Twins on Monday to rob Minnesota of a hit.

Eric Hosmer has certainly lived up to his Gold Glove wins. The most memorable defensive play for him (at least in my opinion) came when he was able to catch a foul ball over the railing against the White Sox.

After watching the Minnesota Twins’ not so good defense on Monday, it makes me appreciate even more so what the Kansas City Royals have on defense. Don’t take it for granted folks. The Royals’ defense is something special.
