It’s no secret that the Kansas City Chiefs had a terrible run defense last year. Yes, a large part of that was due in part to both Mike DeVito and Derrick Johnson being out for the duration of the 2014 season, but it’s still a need of concern for the team.

DeVito and Johnson will be back in 2015, but it’s time to start thinking about the future of the team and Trey Depriest could be a great option to possibly replace Johnson someday. He came from Alabama, who won two National Championships during his time there, so he’s used to winning.

"Burly and thick through his middle, DePriest needs plays to unfold in front of him to play at his best. With offenses becoming matchup-oriented, DePriest’s value to an NFL team could be diminished. Best-suited as a two-down ILB in a 3-4 defense. – NFL.com"

Again, it’s hard to judge a sixth round pick in depth, but Depriest would likely be put to work right away for the Chiefs. Derrick Johnson can’t play forever sadly, so it’s time to start thinking about his eventual replacement.
