Round 2, Pick 17
It is no secret that the KC Chiefs had a terrible offensive line in 2014, and calling it terrible is still probably an understatement. I am sure you have read that a million times all ready. It should come as no surprise if they take an offensive lineman early in the draft.
That is where Florida offensive tackle D.J. Humphries comes in. Humpries is currently projected as the seventh best offensive tackle and 47th best overall prospect according to CBS Sports. He is a very athletic offensive tackle and is very good out in space when run blocking.
"Highly athletic, Humphries is quick off the snap and shows impressive balance and lateral agility in pass protection. He plays with his knees bent and on the balls of his feet, easily shuffling to mirror rushers as well as anchoring well against the bull rush. Humphries boasts long arms and good overall upper body strength to knock defenders off the ball and is quick to the second level. -Courtesy of Rob Rang of CBS Sports"
It is scary to think about what Jamaal Charles would be capable of behind a good offensive line where he doesn’t have to break three tackle just to make it across the line of scrimmage. A big athletic offensive tackle would help pave the way for Charles to have another Pro Bowl caliber season.
